Buffet Table transformation

I got this table for $100 off of craigslist but I had to do something about the color of this thing. At least it was quality wood so I had some good bones to work with. Well I am the kind of girl who likes to find different uses for things I have lying around the house. In this case, I used some wrapping paper I never used, some paintable wallpaper, leftover handles from my kitchen cabinets and some latex house paint. Well, this is how it turned out!

My house can be characterized best using the term "unique". My boyfriend went out and purchased the house before I had even gotten the chance to see it and first impressions were that it needed tons of work but wasn't a lost cause...completely. So 4 years later and one child and another on the way, every room has seen some sort of remodel but not one room is considered "complete". My bathroom was the closest one to being finished so I decided to tackle the floors using only the $40.00 I had in my pockets to do it. Challenge accepted!! Searching pinterest one day I came across brown paper bag flooring. Thinking to myself, can this really look good? Well I'm just going to jump right in and thanks to my excessive amount of crafting supplies, my insistence on perfection and my night owl tendencies the project began. It was quite the task seeing how I was also tending to a vivacious 9 month old at the same time. I didn't want the brown color in the end result but I couldn't find any pictures from others where they lightened the floors with a faux painting technique or anything. That is where my tons of acrylic paint came in and my crazy imagination. It turned out looking like slate/marble and I love it! Best part is that i still have $15 of the $40 in my pockets so GO ME!!!
